Hanani, the father of Jehu, had been a prophet who once rebuked king Asa of Judah and suffered imprisonment because of it (2 Chronicles 16:7-10). Jehu, his son, was better received by Asa's son, Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 19:1-4).
