In addition to the murder of Uriah and the tragic consequences in David's own family, he had "given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme" (2 Samuel 12:14). Nevertheless, his attitude of confession and repentance is the God-ordained route to forgiveness and restoration (1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:1-5).
