God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

- John 4:24

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

- Exodus 20:4-6

  • Pantheists - People who believe creation is God and God is creation; There is no personal God who reigns over creation; the universe is God

  • What deep comfort and sense of purpose are missing in the lives of those who deny the biblical doctrine of a personal God?

Why does the pantheist miss the comfort expressed in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God"?

      "Yes, I said that."

"Why, man, you are a fool. Nature and everything proves that there is a God."

"Do you believe in God?" asked the atheist.

"Certainly I do," said the storekeeper. "I have always believed there is a God."

"Do you serve Him?" asked the atheist.

"No, I don't really serve Him; but I am not an atheist! I believe in God."

The atheist answered, "Man, you are a fool. If I believed there was a God, I would not lose an hour serving Him. How can you believe there is a God and not serve Him? That is the most foolish thing any man could possibly do."

Why are both men foolish, the atheist and the person who believes there is a God but does not truly serve Him? Why? Do you love and serve God with all your soul, mind, and strength?

God is a Spirit; He does not have a physical body as we do. The second of God's Ten Commandments forbids trying to picture God. We may not picture Him in the likeness of anything we see in the sky, on land, or in the ocean.

Pantheists are people who believe that God and creation are the same thing. The universe is God and God is the universe. Pantheists do not believe in a God who previously created and presently upholds creation. They do not acknowledge a God who is separate from and above His creation.

Pantheists make a serious mistake. God created all things and rules over His creation; He is a Spirit who is separate from and above His creation.

People who deny the biblical truth that God is a Person - One who lives and reigns over all His creation - do so at a great price. They have no personal God to turn to with their needs and cares nor to thank for received blessings. They have no personal God to whom they can pray nor in whom they can trust. The universe and its impersonal laws are their "god."

There are many people in our society today who believe that
