they receive their life from, and live at the mercy of, "Mother Nature." To these people, science provides the "key" to the truth of their "universe god." What deep comfort and sense of purpose are missing in the lives of those who deny the biblical doctrine of a personal God?

Science can provide useful knowledge about God's creation, but what deeper "key" to truth has God given us? When man's ideas about truth and scientific theories contradict God's revealed truth in His Word, which is in error - man's theory or God's truth? Can you give some examples of this conflict in our society today?

Read Question and Answer 28 in the Heidelberg Catechism. How does this answer describe a rich comfort that is missed by those who deny the biblical truth of a living, reigning, personal God?

Q.28. What advantage is it to us to know that God has created, and by His providence doth still uphold all things?

A. That we may be patient in adversity; thankful in prosperity; and that in all things, which may hereafter befall us, we place our firm trust in our faithful God and Father, that nothing shall separate us from His love; since all creatures are so in His hand, that without His will they cannot so much as move.

God is an eternal Spirit; He is without beginning or ending. Angels and men also have spirits, but their spirits have been created. They have a beginning when God forms their spirits. Only God is an eternal spirit; One without beginning.

There is only one God, for there can only be one who is almighty, supreme, and everywhere present. Two "supremes" or two "almighties" would be impossible.

Do you know, love, and serve this one, only true God? Thomas Watson wrote, "It is little comfort to know there is a God, unless He be ours." Is the only true God, your God?

- Psalm 33:6, 9
