Can you name some conflicts in our present society between faith in God's Word and in man's theories?


To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?

Why is it important to know the meanings of biblical names? How do the names and meanings listed help us to understand the biblical stories and lessons connected with them? What should these examples teach us about God's names?

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain-, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.

God does not need names to distinguish Himself from others as we do. God cannot be compared with any other being, for there is only one God.

God's names are given for a different purpose; they reveal something of Himself to us. Biblical names often have special meanings - they reveal truths about a person or place. Study the examples in the box below:

Biblical names for God are also rich in meaning for they reveal various truths about Him. How do the following verses refer to the importance of God's names?

And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee.

I have manifested Thy name unto the men which Thou gavest Me out of the world.
