For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

- Romans 5:17-19

For since by man came death, by Man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even to in Christ shall all be made alive.

- I Corinthians 15:21-22

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second Man is the Lord from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

- I Corinthians 15:47-49

But now hath He obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the Mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

- Hebrews 8:6

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.

- Matthew 1:21

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

- Acts 4:12

Adam's tragic sin has plunged the entire human race into a fallen state of misery. Mankind's state of misery includes its:

    1. Origin - our deep fall in Paradise

    2. Cause - our sin

    3. Reality - our total depravity (our incapability of curing or delivering ourselves from our sinful state)

4. Consequence - the loss of God's presence, favor, and fellowship resulting in the punishment of death (the separations caused by sin in corporal, spiritual, and eternal death)

We all need to experience the truths of the origin, cause, reality, and consequence of our misery. Are these truths real in your life? Rave you experienced the truth of them?

Those convinced and convicted of their sinful misery are in a condition similar to that of one who is both convinced that he has an incurable disease and convicted of a crime requiring a death penalty. His misery is unspeakable.

Except for Satan and his fallen angels, there is no one in a more grievous and miserable condition than fallen man. In our fall, we broke our covenant relationship with God and formed an agreement with sin, self, world, and Satan. We left God, intending never to return to Him again.

If it were not for Jesus Christ's payment for sin, life-giving grace, and almighty converting power, there would be no hope for fallen man. His case would be hopeless. But, thanks be to God for His wonderful grace and salvation in Jesus Christ! In Him, there is help for the helpless, hope for the hopeless, and spiritual life for the spiritually dead.

Have you experienced the great weight and burden of your misery due to sin? Has all hope and expectation to save or help yourself been cut off? Has deliverance through Jesus Christ become your only hope and expectation?

Jesus Christ is God's answer to man's fall, the only Savior of lost sinners, the one name by which we can be saved.
