Some churches and cults ascribe great teaching powers to people, believing that a human teacher can speak infallibly - without error. How does their belief conflict with the biblical teachings of Christ as the all-knowing and perfect Prophet?

Why are Jesus' names important? What can we learn from studying them?

In His instructive work of revealing and applying God's truths, something of Christ is revealed through the following titles:

a. Prophet

A great Prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited His people.

- Luke 7:16b

b. Teacher

The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a Teacher come from God.

- John 3:2a

c. Apostle

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.

- Hewbrews 3:1

d. Counsellor

His Name shall be called wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

- Isaiah 9:6b

e. Author

And being made perfect, He became the Author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him.

- Hebrews 5:9

f. Witness

Behold, I have given Him for a Witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

- Isaiah 55:4

g. Messenger

And the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

- Malachi 3:1b

h. Light

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the Light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

- John 8:12

i. Truth

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the Truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

j. Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.
