Does God outwardly bless individuals and nations that out.wardly walk according to His law, doing civil good? Provide some scriptural examples.

Are good works necessary in the life of a child of God? Why or why not?

And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

- Luke 6:33

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves.

And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

When referring to good works in the remainder of this chapter, spiritual good works are meant - not civil good works. For additional information regarding God's common and saving grace workings, please refer to Chapter Thirteen.

Good works do not earn or merit salvation for the saved, but they are necessary as fruits or results of salvation. A person cannot earn his salvation, either in whole or in part, by his good works for the five principal reasons shown in the chart on the following page.
