    God's law includes several restraints. Explain how the restless, unrepentant sinner views these restraints as "prison," while the returning, repentant sinner sees them as "home."

    How did the prodigal son view his father's house and its rules differently when fleeing from it than when returning to it?

God wrote His law, the Ten Commandments, on two tables of stone. While all biblically-based religions agree with the scriptural pronouncement that God gave ten commandments on two tables, they do not agree on how the commandments, nor the tables, were divided.

The Jews regard the words, "I am the LORD thy God, which hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" (Exodus 20:2), as the first commandment - to recognize Jehovah as their God based upon His delivering them from Egypt.

How does David reflect the spirit of true obedience when he declares, "The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart" (Psalm 19:8a)?


And He declared unto you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone.

- Deuteronomy 4:13

And He wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.

- Deuteronomy 10:4


What spiritual lesson is taught by the first tables of God's law being broken by Moses, and the set being stored safely in the second ark?
