Man is to portray a spiritual and true image of God. When God created man in His own image, man reflected something of His Creator's knowledge, righteousness, and holiness. The ultimate goal, the heart's desire, of all true believers is to reflect this spiritual image of God more perfectly. In this endeavor, they strive to be more Christ-like, the One who was a perfect image, the express image, of God.

A young Irish boy once made the following remarkable reply to his teacher who had told his students that they were forbidden to worship any image of God.

"Please, Sir, there is one image we should worship."

"Well, what is that?" the teacher asked in surprise.

"Sir, we are told to worship Christ, who is the perfect image of God."

Was this boy's answer correct? Why or why not?

We are to approach God only through His perfect image, Jesus Christ. All other man-made mediators or approaches insult the righteousness of God the Father, despise the salvation earned by God the Son, and resist the teaching of the Holy Spirit.

Donald, a Protestant farmer who rented land from Alexander, second Duke of Gordon, having fallen behind in his payments, asked for mercy and patience from the duke's steward, for the duke was away traveling. The steward refused and seized his land. Upon return of the duke, Donald went to see him.
