4. God's Word - Jesus' ascension fulfills the prophecies and types proclaimed throughout Scripture.

5. God's Church - Christ's ascension profits His people in the following ways:

    a. They are called to delight themselves in their King's splendid victory and magnificent triumph and to direct their thoughts heavenward - where Christ is.

    b. They shall receive the rich benefits of Christ's work as their heavenly Prophet, Priest, and King (as explained in the next step of His exaltation - Christ's sitting at the right hand of God).

    c. They may rest in faith that Christ is preparing a glorious place for them in heaven to be revealed at the end of time. Jesus' glorified human nature in heaven is His people's blessed pledge that He will restore and bring them there also - to be with Him where He is forever.

There are two gravestones in a London cemetery which bear unusual messages. A certain minister, when giving directions for the engraving of his wife's gravestone preferred to use the word "ascended" instead of "deceased" or "died."

"Spiritually, she has ascended," he explained to all who asked him about the different wording. "It is only her body which is left behind, and that will soon follow."

Remembering his testimony after his own death, his friends gave directions for the engraving of his tombstone as follows:

    Joseph Parker
    born: April 9, 1830
    Ascended. November 28, 1902

Silently, over the years, these two stones testify of the Parkers' faith in the ascension.

What strong basis for faith in one's personal resurrection and ascension underlies the Christian faith? Is this faith yours personally?.

Blessed be the God, and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

- Ephesians 1:3

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

- Romans 8:34

In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may he also.

- John 14:2-3

Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me: for Thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world.

- John 17:24
