"The same as that which will take place at the end of your life on earth," her teacher responded. "Then the body and soul will separate. At the end of time the Church Invisible, the 'soul' of the church, shall be separated from the Church Visible, its 'body,' and shall be taken into heaven forever."

Why has God given us, as creatures on earth, a physical body? Why has God given His spiritual Church an outward body? Which is the core of one's existence - his soul or body? Which is the core of God's church - the Church Invisible or Visible? Are we to value only our bodies, only our souls, or both? Which is of greater value? Why? Are we to value only the Church Visible, only the Church Invisible, or both? Which is of greater value? Why?

The Westminster Confession of Faith defines the Church Invisible as follows: "The catholic or universal Church, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all."

- I Timothy 6:12

- Romans 7:23

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

- II Corinthians 10:4
