And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, 10, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- Mathew 28:18-20
2. Christ ordained the means of grace which the church is to administer - His Word and sacraments
And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
- Mark 16:15-16
And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Testament in My blood, which is shed for you.
- Luke 22:19-20
3. Christ provides the church with its officebearers and empowers them to do their work
And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
- Ephesians 4:11-12
4. Christ is always present when the church gathers to worship their King
For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them.

2. It maintains the truth that Christ rules by means of His Word - The Reformed/Presbyterian form of church government bases its rulings upon the teachings and principles of God's Word, not upon personal feelings, various traditions, state rulings, or papal pronouncements. The Bible, the King's law-word, is the constitution of the church. It is the only infallible source of truth. Rulings of any consistory, classis, or synod which oppose scriptural teachings are not to be accepted.
While Christ is King of both, what is a principal difference between Christ's kingship in the Church Invisible and in the Church Visible?
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away.
- Luke 21:33
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
- II Timothy 3:16
But the Word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the Word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
- I Peter 1:25
For I testify unto every man I that heareth the words of the! prophecy of this Book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this Book.
