Why is it dangerous to ascribe literal interpretations to many of the biblical prophecies regarding the future both in the Old and New Testaments?

6. Premillenial instruction portrays Christ's reigning for one thousand years on earth after His return, while Scripture testifies of Christ's kingdom as eternal and this earth being dissolved at Jesus' return.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

-Daniel 2:44

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

-II Peter 1:10-11

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

-II Peter 3:10-12

7. Premillennial belief presents several co-existing combinations, which Scripture testifies of being very difficult or impossible to visualize existing together, such as:

  • Sinful and glorified humanity living together

  • Those who have not died living with those who have passed through death and a resurrection

  • A glorified Christ establishing His throne on an unglorified, not fully-renewed, earth .

  • The old earth and new earth

  • The glorified Christ living with sinners on earth again

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
