On Opening the Rosebud

This young, new preacher began to grow and was soon called to a church in the country.
As he was visiting a farmer and his family one day, he related that story of the rose to them.
Upon hearing the story, the wise old farmer took the young preacher outside to the garden in his yard.

As he showed him the beautiful roses there, the old farmer quoted him the scripture in 1st Corinthians 9:10 (KJB) where the Bible says, he that ploweth should plow in hope. It takes cultivated ground for roses to open from a bud into a beautiful flower.  Can you hoe the ground around the roses as needed?

Sure, the young preacher answered.  I can do that.

Then, he quoted the scripture in Luke 8.8 (KJB) about the seed that fell on good ground , and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold.
It takes good ground for roses to open from a bud into a beautiful flower.  Can you plant rosebush seed in good ground, the old farmer asked?

Sure, the young preacher answered.  I can do that.

Then, the old farmer quoted him the scripture in Matthew 8:12 (KJB) where Jesus says, I am the light of the world: It takes good light for roses to open from a bud into a beautiful flower.  Can you plant rosebush seed in good light?

Sure, the young preacher answered.  I can do that.

Then, the old farmer quoted him the scripture in 1st Corinthians 3:8 (KJB) where the Bible says, Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. It takes good water for roses to open from a bud into a beautiful flower.  Can you water the roses as they need it?

Sure, the young preacher answered.  I can do that.

Then, the old farmer quoted him the scripture in Leviticus 25:3 (KJB) where the Bible says, Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; It takes pruning each year for roses to open from a bud into a beautiful flower.  Can you prune the rosebushes as needed?

Sure, the young preacher answered.  I can do that.

See, you can open the rose, the old farmer assured the young preacher.

Without these 5 things, the rosebuds would never open into the beautiful flower that they are intended to be. Go and do these same things for your congregation, remembering to try the spirits whether they are of God. {1st John 4:1 KJB}
