Crossing the Stream

Shudder not to cross the stream,

Venture all thy hopes on Him;

not one object of His care

ever suffered shipwreck there.

Oh! Could I make my doubts remove,

these gloomy doubt that rise,

and see the Canaan that I live

with unbeclouded eyes!

Could I but climb where Moses stood,

and view the landscape o’er,

not Jordn’s streams, nor deathtops cold flood,

should fright me from the shore.
